Asikunnaby is an Assistant Professor of Disaster and Human Security Management at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), Dhaka, Bangladesh. He completed his second MSc focusing on Spatio-temporal Dimensions of Hazards in 2020 from Durham University, the United Kingdom with a Distinction; before that he earned his first MSc (Thesis) and BSc in Geography and Environment from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. Since May 2016 he has been working as a faculty member in BUP. He has over 10 years of interdisciplinary experience as a researcher on numerous projects with Government Agencies and NGOs related to disaster management, the physical environment, and livelihood dynamics focusing on Bangladesh. Some agencies among those are- Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Bangladesh Planning Commission, Asiatic Society of Bangladesh, Center for Urban Studies (CUS), CARE Bangladesh, Start Fund Bangladesh, NIRAPAD, and Practical Action, Bangladesh. Mr. Asikunnaby is skilled in GIS, Remote Sensing, Google Earth Engine (GEE), UAV, GPS, and PRA tools plus he contributed to the production of three Atlases (i.e., NationalAtlas of Bangladesh). He has 6 peer-reviewed research papers including one Q1 and one Q2 publication.
